This is a top tier kombucha that tells me we're now moving into the era of world class kombucha making in the UK. The established brands better watch out because this is next level right here.
Kev, Kombucha Club
"Welsh ginger is rarer than a dry bank holiday."
Made with ginger grown on the farm and Peterston's own loose leaf black tea. The only thing stopping this one stealing the show is how much ginger they can actually grow in Wales.
So when it's here, grab it.
Warm, clean ginger on a smooth black tea base, with a gentle heat that builds rather than punches. It's the ginger kombucha for people who like their spice with manners. If you see it in stock, that's your sign. Don't wait for the next harvest.
Kev's verdict: "I'd put this up against any ginger kombucha in the shop, and I've got a fridge full of them to choose from. The only problem is they can't grow enough of it. When it's in, buy two. Trust me, you'll be gutted if you only bought one."
Peterston Tea grow their own organic tea in the Vale of Glamorgan, on one of the first commercial tea farms in the UK. The tea and the ginger in this bottle come from that farm. Small batch, raw and unpasteurised, with the live cultures left in.
Size: 330ml bottle
Ingredients: Filtered water, organic kombucha culture, organic raw cane sugar, organic single estate black tea, organic ginger
Storage: Raw and unpasteurised, so keep it in the fridge. Small floating bits of SCOBY are natural, safe to drink and a sign of a healthy brew.
Mix it into any box of 6, 12 or 24 and save up to 15%.
Want the science? Here's what the research actually says about fermented drinks, minus the hype.
Raw means unpasteurised. The bacteria and yeasts from fermentation are still in there, which is why it needs to stay cold.
Like all kombucha, it has a trace of alcohol from fermentation, always under 0.5% ABV, and a little caffeine from the tea it's brewed with.
Fridge it from the moment it lands to the moment you drink it. Warm raw kombucha gets lively, so open it slowly over the sink if it's been out. Once open, keep it in the fridge and finish it within a few days.
